More than ayear ago (wow has it been that long) I made a blog post called After Effects and Tron 1.0 where I showed a project I was playing around with. Well, I left it alone for a long time because I wasn’t having a lot of luck. But then friday I had some ideas, and I started to put them together. This is what I came up with:

Tron 2.5D from Aharon Rabinowitz on Vimeo.

I am still not 100% sure how I managed to do all of this in AE, but when I do, I’ll translate that into a tutorial.

Trapcode Particular 2 is used for the Light Cycle trails and shattered pieces, Knoll Light Factory for the flare, and Trapcode Starglow for adding something glitzy and 80′s to the look of it. The rest is all AE 3D layers. I think it looks pretty slick, if only derivative of the original.

  1. I think I know how you did most of this, but still wouldn’t mind seeing your process :)

    Cool
Looks similar to the 3D one but with our AE the Great!
